Berlin Biguine
Berlin Biguine is devoted to the musical heritage of Martinique and Guadeloupe, focusing on the golden era of biguine from the 1930s to the 1950s, when Antillean musicians left the Caribbean to transform the nightlife of Paris with their clarinets, trombones, guitars, and drums. Born from a creole society shaped by colonial history, biguine reflects a subtle blending of European melodies, the influence of American jazz, and deep Afro-Caribbean rhythmic traditions.
More than simple dance music, Biguine carries profound stories, combining creole poetry, unadorned harmonies, and irresistibly syncopated grooves. With respect for its history and vitality, Berlin Biguine approaches this repertoire as a poetic living tradition, inviting audiences to experience the warmth, complexity, and transatlantic spirit of the Antilles.
Musicians:
Quentin Bardi – Tenor guitar, vocals
Anton Wunderlich – Trombone, vocals
Laurin Habert – Saxophone, clarinet
Hervé Hartock – Drums
Mathieu Baud – Bass
