Die Theater- und Operngesellschaft "THEOS" lädt Sie herzlich zu der Aufführung "Maria und Magdalena" ein, in der zwei außergewöhnliche Frauen aus der Zwischenkriegszeit vorgestellt werden. Die erste ist die brillante Dichterin Maria Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska (gespielt von Anna Kucay), die zweite ist ihre Schwester, die satirische Schriftstellerin Magdalena Samozwaniec (gespielt von Katarzyna Drucker).
The Theatre and Opera Society "THEOS" cordially invites you to the performance titled "Mary and Magdalene," which features two extraordinary women from the interwar period. The first is the brilliant poet Maria Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska (played by Anna Kucay), and the second is her sister, the satirical writer Magdalena Samozwaniec (played by Katarzyna Drucker).
They were the daughters of the famous Polish painter Wojciech Kossak, who had numerous connections with Germany, especially during the early stages of his career. From 1897 to 1902, he worked in Berlin, where Emperor Wilhelm II provided him with a studio at the Hohenzollern Museum

They were the daughters of the famous Polish painter Wojciech Kossak, who had numerous connections with Germany, especially during the early stages of his career. From 1897 to 1902, he worked in Berlin, where Emperor Wilhelm II provided him with a studio at the Hohenzollern Museum and commissioned him to paint portraits and battle scenes. In Germany, he used the name Adalbert Ritter von Kossak, an Austrian noble title granted to him due to his descent from a Polish noble family. Despite his success and popularity among German audiences, he returned to Kraków in 1902. Both of his daughters spoke and wrote fluently in three languages: Polish, German, and French.
The performance is based on scenes from the life of the Kossak family, drawn from the book Maria and Magdalena written by Magdalena Samozwaniec, who served as a kind of family chronicler, describing fragments of their lives in a light and humorous way. Everything is interlinked with poems by Maria Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska, presented through recitation and singing. Her poems about nature, love, life, sorrows, and joys move to the core of the soul and inspire reflection.
We will hear interwar-era music performed by All Werner, as well as beautiful compositions by the late Mirosław Kucay, a well-known Polish-American jazz musician, which were especially composed for this performance.
