Growing up in Kremenchuk and being closely connected to the nature that surrounds the city, Mechika uses nature in her lyrics to express the personal feelings, searchings and longings. She plays a variety of instruments, often broken, out of tune, but that sort of limitation results in a unique personal sound.

SVITLANA NIANIO

is a Ukrainian musician with a long history in the still- mysterious Kyiv Underground.
Nianio’s first group Cukor Bela Smert [Sugar, The White Death] were active from the late 80’s through to the early 90’s,and following an intense period of touring, collaboration, experimentation and a string of mixtapes and self-published recordings,
Nianio’s first official solo album ‘Kytytsi’ was released in 1999 by Poland’s Koka Records.
Her music draws on aspects of modern composition and traditional music, also some inspiration from medieval music.
The aura of her voice and simplicity of her compositions suggest folk base. Deeply rooted in primeval myths, her music creates a world of magic realism, in which the temporal dimension and the other world constantly move and permeate.
