The New Mourning ist ein Rock-/Indie-Projekt des Musikers und Tontechnikers Thomas Pronai. Es entstand aus seiner Idee, einfache, reduzierte Rock-’n’-Roll-Songs mit direkter Energie und ohne Effektschnickschnack aufzunehmen – inspiriert von Tourerfahrungen und klassischen Bandgefühlen.

Pronai betreibt ein überwiegend analoges Studio im Osten Österreichs (an der Pannonischen Steppe), in dem neben The New Mourning auch legendäre österreichische Acts wie Der Nino aus Wien, Ernst Molden und Ja, Panik aufgenommen wurden.
