CANTO DIASPORA
Canto Diáspora is a vibrant Berlin-based women's choir led by Colombian singer Carolina Riaño. Formed in 2022, the group brings together 40 women—mostly Latin American migrants—who unite their voices in celebration of oral traditions, shared identity, and cultural diversity.
Their music is a powerful expression of resilience and female strength, creating a space of connection, empowerment, and community. More than just a choir, Canto Diáspora is a refuge where women share their stories, joys, and challenges of life far from home.
To witness them live is to be swept into a wave of emotion, sisterhood, and collective power that resonates long after the last note fades.
They have performed on stages such as the Gorki Theater, SAVVY Contemporary, Grüner Salon (Volksbühne), and the Karneval der Kulturen—always with the aim of inspiring others to raise their voices and tell their stories.
TOUMANY FOFANA
Toumany Fofana is a multi-instrumentalist from Guinea, at home wherever the rhythm flows. Born in Sankaran, he grew up immersed in the musical traditions of his hometown, accompanying his father—a singer and guitarist—at local celebrations from an early age. His first instrument was the djembe, and today he masters a wide range of traditional percussion, including the three Malinké bass drums (dundun, sangban, kensereni), the bolon, and drum set.
In Conakry, Toumany is a sought-after performer at ceremonies such as baptisms, weddings, and Dembadon rituals, contributing as both a drummer and a singer. He is also a member of the renowned dance and music ensemble Ballet Sembé Foniké.
Seeing Toumany live is an invitation into the rich soundscape of West African tradition—full of rhythm, warmth, and strength.
