sinokultur invites you to join the colorful marbling cards workshop with Natalie Tiet on Saturday, April 12 from 11am to 2pm at Social Fabric in Zurich.
Brief History of marbling: The history of marbling is to be found in the region of Asia. It is believed to be the oldest form of marbling, originating in China over 1,000 years ago and practiced in Japan by Shinto priests as early as the 12th century.
In the workshop, participants will make cards with a modern version of marbling, using original mineral colours for Chinese painting and special paper. Marbling is a technique of painting on water using special paints. When the image is ready, it can be transferred to paper. During the workshop you will be shown how to create different types of beautiful abstract patterns. No special artistic skills required. It's a kind of collaboration between the water and the colours. The process of making cards is exciting, joyful and at the same time meditative.
Please bring an old t-shirt or apron for you to wear.
All materials and tea break are inluded in the price.
