Die Regisseur:innen dieser Masterclass sprechen anhand ihrer Filme über kreative Prozesse und teilen visuelles Material aus der Vorproduktion, darunter Skizzen, Moodboards und Storyboards. Die Masterclass beleuchtet außerdem die Herausforderungen, die es bei der Adaption literarischer Texte zu beachten gilt und stellen dabei eine Frage in den Mittelpunkt, die jeder Adaption zugrunde liegt: Sollte man dem Text selbst treu bleiben oder dem Kern des Werkes?

The participating directors will discuss the creative process behind their films and share preparatory materials, including sketches, mood boards and storyboards. The masterclass will also explore the challenges of adapting literary texts for the screen, focusing on a question that lies at the heart of every adaptation: should one remain faithful to the text itself, or to its spirit?
 

"Cosmonauts: Eine Fallstudie"

In dieser Masterclass nimmt Leo Černic das Publikum mit auf die Entstehung seines animierten Kurzfilms “Cosmonauts” – von den ersten Skizzen bis hin zur gesamten kreativen Reise. Anhand von „Cosmonauts” spricht Leo über Storytelling, visuelle Entwicklung, den Arbeitsablauf und die Herausforderung, den emotionalen Kern eines Films auch dann zu bewahren, wenn die Animationsproduktion lang dauert und anspruchsvoll ist. Anhand persönlicher Einblicke und praktischer Beispiele denkt Leo darüber nach, wie Animation Intimität, Verletzlichkeit und menschliche Verbundenheit bewahren kann – wie sie letztlich versuchen kann, ein bisschen Liebe unter diesem Sternenhimmel (oder auch: im Sternenhimmel selbst) zu verbreiten.

In this masterclass, Leo Černic takes the audience through the making of his animated short film “Cosmonauts”, from early sketches to the full creative journey. Using “Cosmonauts” as a case study, Leo reflects on storytelling, visual development, workflow, and the challenge of protecting the emotional core of a film while navigating the long and often demanding process of animation production. Through personal insights and practical examples, the masterclass becomes an exploration of how animation can preserve intimacy, vulnerability, and human connection – ultimately, an attempt to share just a bit of love among the stars.
